The Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead vans will be available to Soccer in the Streets at no cost and on an as-needed basis.
“I was not familiar with Soccer in the Streets until Footie Mob approached us regarding the non-profit organization,” said Jewelian Griffith, Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead Director of Marketing. “After learning about how they impact the community, I immediately wanted to become involved. As the official vehicle for Atlanta United along with participating in our own adult soccer league through TYSA, it makes sense to why we should be a part of this amazing opportunity. We are excited for what is to come and help improve kids’ lives not only through Soccer in the Streets, but a gateway to endless possibilities to serve the community”
“Being able to connect more and different types of partners in our work with Soccer in the Streets is allowing us to overcome the challenges that their youth athletes are facing,” said Jeremy Martinez, Footie Mob Board Member and Philanthropy Committee Chair. “Each community partner has access to different resources that can be brought together to collectively achieve more good than if we worked solo. Footie Mob is excited to continue to provide new, interesting, and relevant solutions with our partners to develop a next generation of home grown soccer stars.”
“To be the beneficiary of this partnership is truly inspiring,” said Phil Hill, Executive Director of Soccer in the Streets. “Transportation is one of the critical hurdles in providing access to our free programming to the 28 communities that we work with throughout Atlanta. Public transportation does not reach all of the areas throughout the city, and this hinders our youth from being able to participate. Having Mercedes-Benz Buckhead and Footie Mob team up to eliminate this hurdle allows us to continue to focus on providing soccer and life-skills programs to the youth throughout our city.”
The two Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead vans were unveiled to the public on Saturday, June 29 at the Footie Mob tailgate outside Mercedes-Benz Stadium prior to the Atlanta United match against the Montreal Impact.
The Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead vans will also be on display on Tuesday, July 2 at the Peachtree Health and Fitness Expo at the Georgia World Congress Center in preparation for the annual Peachtree Road Race.
As a community leader, Footie Mob will continue to raise funds that will directly support Soccer in the Streets and it will continue to engage partnerships that will advance its philanthropic responsibilities.

Atlanta soccer fans, get ready to hit the fairways this fall for the first annual Gresselmania Golf Classic, hosted by Atlanta's own, Julian Gressel. The Gresselmania Golf Classic will take place Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Georgia. The Gresselmania Golf Classic, created by Gressel and his wife, Casey, will raise funds for Soccer in the Streets to build a new StationSoccer in downtown Atlanta for kids to have access (and transportation) to play soccer.
The Gresselmania Golf Classic - a four-person scramble format - will feature a great day of golf in a stunning setting - the TPC Sugarloaf, crafted by the legendary Greg Norman, and named by Golf Digest, one of the Top 100 Private Clubs in the U.S. when it debuted on the golf scene. The Golf Classic will feature a day on the links golfing with sports and entertainment celebrities, cool contests on the course - including a Hole in One contest sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, food offerings along the course, a VIP Appreciation Post Golf Party, a silent auction with unique experiences and sports memorabilia, and more.
"Ever since we moved to Atlanta, my wife, Casey, and I have wanted to give back to the city that has been so good to us - and help actually move the needle to give more kids access to play spaces," said Gressel. "Next to soccer, golf is definitely one of my favorite sports. So, what better way to raise money than through a golf event? We are partnering with Soccer in the Streets to help make the next StationSoccer location a reality!"
Soccer in the Streets has a vision that all children will have the opportunity to succeed. Soccer in the Streets pursues leveling the playing field for all, affording access to the sport regardless of race, gender, religion, or socio-economic status. They strive to integrate our communities, intertwining efforts from corporations, education systems, government, non-profits, and community leaders to better the lives of youth through soccer.
"We are excited to be the benefactor of the Gresselmania Golf Classic," said Phil Hill, Executive Director of Soccer in the Streets. "Julian has been a great supporter of the program. The funds raised will support our StationSoccer project which is tackling the two biggest issues affecting urban youth participation in sport: affordability and lack of transportation."

Impact Day is defined as a day for collaborating with an outside organization and giving back to the community. A group of more than 50 Deloitte employees spent their 2019 Impact Day helping to improve our Clarkston FC facilities and teaching our youth how to prepare for a successful job interview.
Deloitte, a consulting company that works with many of the world’s most admired brands, has been involved with Soccer in the Streets for two years as the top fundraiser for the Corporate Cup.
Impact Day consisted of two sessions. The morning consisted of a significant amount of manual labor. Deloitte volunteers cleared weeds and vines that had overtaken one side of the Clarkston pitch, they assembled the new bench they donated, and they repainted the field house where soccer equipment and other program assets are stored. After several hours of hard work, Deloitte treated some 80 members of Clarkston FC to lunch at their beautified home field.
Following lunch, the afternoon session involved 42 high-school aged Clarkston FC players working with Deloitte volunteers to conduct a workshop on how to prepare for a job interview. Job readiness is an important part of Soccer in the Streets. The organization focuses on soccer development along with leadership skills.
Kisean Smith, a Senior Tax Accountant, with Deloitte’s Business Tax Services, led the workshop that covered topics including dressing for success, the importance of making a good first impression, how to prepare for an interview, and how to create a resume.
Participants received a template to create their own resume and then broke into smaller working groups to conduct mock interviews with members of the Deloitte team. Feedback from the Clarkston FC attendees was overwhelmingly positive…
96% agree or strongly agree they learned important tips on how to dress for a job interview or career fair.
88% feel confident they know how to prepare for a job interview or career fair after attending the workshop.
“It was great to see the immediate impact of our work and be able to meet some of the great kids in the program,” said Deloitte Vice President of Sales Software Solutions, Rebecca Dupree, who led Impact Day. “Many of the youth players had never heard of a resume, and it was empowering to help them think about their futures.”
Dupree has been a key contributor to Deloitte’s Corporate Cup team, so she’s familiar with Soccer in the Streets. Impact Day gave her the opportunity to, “Introduce more Deloitte employees to Soccer in the Streets with the hope that they stay involved in the future.”
“Deloitte has made a significant impact on our organization through their support of Corporate Cup,” said Soccer in the Streets Volunteer and Event Manager Jessica Charman. “This day was truly special in that it allowed volunteers to personally contribute to our soccer and our leadership programs, which are made possible through fundraising efforts including Corporate Cup.”
