'Soccer in the Streets' anunció hoy la séptima edición de la ‘Liga de Campeones ATL 2017’ (ATL Champions League 2017), uno de sus torneos benéficos tradicionales. El evento, que se celebrará el 21 de Mayo, está programado para romper todos los récords anteriores, ya que por primera vez contará con la participación de 16 equipos, para un promedio de 240 jugadores.

ATLANTA (2 de Marzo, 2017) - 'Soccer in the Streets' anunció hoy la séptima edición de la ‘Liga de Campeones ATL 2017’ (ATL Champions League 2017), uno de sus torneos benéficos tradicionales. El evento, que se celebrará el 21 de Mayo, está programado para romper todos los récords anteriores, ya que por primera vez contará con la participación de 16 equipos, para un promedio de 240 jugadores.

"En los últimos años, hemos tenido que dejar fuera a jugadores interesados orque las plazas en los equipos se llenaban rápidamente, dejando a muchos en la lista de espera. Este año estamos creciendo de acuerdo a la demanda y llevando el torneo a otro nivel ", dijo Bill Ford, miembro de la junta directiva de “Soccer in the Streets’ y encargado del evento.
La ‘Liga de Campeones ATL’ engloba a los más apasionados fanáticos del fútbol de la ciudad, representando a quince de los más ilustres equipos europeos y a nuestro Atlanta United FC, todos luchando por el título de campeón tanto dentro como fuera del campo.
Detrás de la competitividad y la diversión está el aspecto más importante de este torneo: recaudar fondos para llevar el fútbol a niños y jóvenes de comunidades de bajos ingresos, brindando acceso a entrenamiento de calidad sin importar su estatus socioeconómico, raza o credo. El torneo permite a ‘Soccer in the Streets’ sustentar diversos programas gratuitos para más de cuatro mil niños y jóvenes; entre ellos se incluye el desarrollo de talento y empleabilidad.
‘Soccer in the Streets’ proporciona acceso y oportunidades a niños desfavorecidos residentes en barrios urbanos. Empleando el fútbol como el medio y ancla, esta organización sin fines de lucro ha inculcado estilos de vida saludables y opciones positivas a miles de niños en el área metropolitana de Atlanta. ATLANTA (Feb. 27, 2017) - ‘Soccer in the Streets’ announced today the seventh annual ATL Champions League 2017, one of its traditional fundraising events. The tournament, to be held on May 21st, is set to break all previous records, as it is set to grow from 12 to 16 participating teams, with an average of 240 players hitting the pitch.

“In recent years, we have had to leave interested players out because the teams fill up so quickly, leaving disappointed people on the waiting list. This year we are addressing that and taking it to another level,” said Bill Ford, Event Chairman.
The ATL Champions League sees the city’s most passionate soccer fans, representing fifteen of the most illustrious European soccer teams and our own Atlanta United FC, battle it out for the title both on and off the pitch. Behind the competitiveness and fun lays the most important aspect of this tournament: raising funds to bring soccer to lower income communities while leveling the playing field regardless of socio-economic status. The tournament helps Soccer in the Streets provide sustainable free youth soccer programs that cultivate change, education, and empower children.
Soccer in the Streets provides access and opportunities to disadvantaged children in urban neighborhoods. Using soccer as the medium, the non-profit has instilled healthy lifestyles and positive choices to thousands of children in the metro Atlanta area. With a holistic approach, the organization centers its programs on character development, life skills, mentoring, and employability. Since its establishment in 1989, Soccer in the Streets ensures all children have a chance to succeed on and off the field.
